Position Summary:

The main responsibility of the Network Planner for this Position is to understand and “plan”  network elements providing Fiber-to-the-Home.  They will be expected to review Wire Center Strategies and design Fiber the Home networks to cover the targeted households within a community/Wirecenter.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • High-Level Planning and Costing of network design elements for FTTH.
  • F1/F2 Network Plan/ Hub Network Plan
  • Create Distribution Area Polygons, schematics, etc, in QGIS Systems.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of GIS systems usedQGIS, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and organizational skills associated with planning, design, and implementation of complicated service provider architectures and applications
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex topics in both written and verbal form.
  • Understanding of large-scale network capacity management and modeling.
  • Strong large-scale network troubleshooting skills

Work in and understand engineering systems: 

  •  Infinium - work order estimating and material ordering system
  • M6 - Circuit and equipment inventory and design system
  • Varasset – Work Order Project Flow
  • FROGS
  • QGIS, ArcGIS, GIS systems in general
  • Various web-based programs

Required Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal), and computer skills, particularly around Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent is desirable, or a minimum of 5 years of experience in a data or Telco-related position.
  • Specifications: Well-versed in Telecom OSP Planning/Engineering
